BEARS NEWS 04/23/08 - UPDATE: Season has came to an end. The Bears lost in the first round of the playoffs to the Florida Falcons. Over all it was a great first year and looking on to next season. WCB will be looking for volunteers in the off season to help in the efforts of making the West Coast Bears a household name in the community. If you are interested in volunteering or sponsorship please contact us. We would love to hear from you!! 02/26/08 - UPDATE: You can now order WCB merchandise from CafePress.com. Click on the link at the bottom of the Home Page! 02/26/08 - UPDATE: Well we are now into the second half of our Inaugural season. We are happy with all of the support the community has shown us. As a way to celebrate our players we are planning a Family & Friends night. Details will be posted soon. Come out and show support for your favorite Bears player! Also, the Florida Football Alliance "Minor League Report" on ESPN Radio is now available for PodCast of the previous shows. Click on the FFA logo to the left to go to their page and scroll down to look for the PodCast links. 02/10/08 - UPDATE: The Bears are looking forward to having the next two games in a row at Home. We have decided to sell Season Tickets after receiving quite a few requests for them. Since there are 4 Home games left the cost will be $20.00. We had a great crowd for our first game and hope to see everyone again. Thank you to all the fans who came out to support the West Coast Bears! 01/19/08 - UPDATE: Unfortunately, our Inaugural game had to be cancelled due to the weather. The FFA is working on rescheduling our meeting with the Bradenton Gladiators. The Bears would like to extend a special thank you to all of the Gladiators for traveling to our Home field. We will update again when we get a new game date. All tickets that were issued will be accepted at our next Home game on February 2 vs. the Polk County War Eagles. Save your tickets! 01/17/08 - UPDATE: We have teamed up with the United Way and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hernando County. It is very important to the Bears to make a difference within our community, why not join in with us and become a volunteer. See our Links page and click on either organization for info on how you can help! 01/12/08 - UPDATE: The 2007/2008 Roster has been posted. Don't forget to tune into 1080AM for "The Minor League Report" at noon today. Click on the "Listen Live" ESPN link on the homepage. Also, take a look at the Photos page for a sneak peak of the new uniforms! 01/05/08 - UPDATE: Today we attended the FFA owners meeting and it was another success. All of the FFA members consistently prove themselves to be on top of their game. Lots of suggestions were made to keep all of our teams growing and becoming more successful. The kinks are starting to work themselves out and this season will prove to be one of the best arrivals of minor league football that this state has ever seen. Two weeks to go! We all got to tune in together to the first on-air broadcast of the Florida Football Alliance Minor League Report on ESPN Radio and it was a complete success. What a great avenue for staff, players and fans to get involved. 01/03/08 - UPDATE: Finally! We have added some team pictures on the Photos Page. 12/16/07 - UPDATE: The Bears want to thank the Ft. Myers Spartans and the rest of the teams in the Western Conference for such a great event. The Spartans were very accommodating and made everybody's day run without a hitch. We took the knocks of a new team with a 16-0 loss to Minor League veteran, Bradenton Gladiators and came away with a 0-0 tie against another veteran team, the Ft. Myers Spartans. We will get back to the chalk board and get ready for the upcoming season. 12/12/07 - UPDATE: We are gearing up for the Jamboree this Saturday. Good luck to the rest of the Western Conference! We will see you there, it's finally time to start up a great season in the FFA. 09/28/07 - UPDATE: The First Ever Florida Football Alliance Schedule & Conference alignments are out! It was a long hull but the hard working FFA staff got it done. It is going to be a Competitive league. You won't want to miss it!!! 09/18/07 - UPDATE: The Bears make news, go to the St. Pete Times (thanks Kellie) to read the story. Thanks also to all who attended our second tryout. We will see you at the team meeting! 09/10/07 - UPDATE: First Tryout was a success! Owners Brandon & Al Valenca were very pleased to see the amount of talent to attend. The Bears Tryout was covered by the St. Pete Times and hopes to have them cover the team throughout the upcoming season. 08/28/07 - UPDATE: The Florida Football Alliance comes to terms with first Commissioner and signs Supervisor of Officials. The FFA is on its way to becoming a Premier League throughout the state! For the whole story click here. 08/15/07 - UPDATE: The West Coast Bears are pleased to announce the signing of their first Head Coach, Ernest Givins. Ernest brings a wealth of experience to the Bears organization. See team page for more info. 08/13/07 - UPDATE: The Sept. 8th tryout time has changed. Registration will begin at 3:00pm and the workout will start at 4:00pm. See team page for more info. 08/01/07 - UPDATE: Team try-outs have been scheduled for September. All information is posted on the Team page. If you have any additional questions you may contact us at the information provided below. 07/31/07 - UPDATE: On 7/21 we attended the FFA owners meeting held in Orlando. The meeting went great, all events were well planned and executed. After attending this meeting the Bears are more confident in the FFA than ever. We know we made the right choice for our team. A special thanks to President Terrence Page and everyone involved! 07/11/07 - UPDATE: Finally! After quite some time and headaches most of our website is up and running again. We were having some server issues, thanks for your patience, the other pages will be up soon. We have been accepted to the Florida Football Alliance click on the FFA logo to the left of the page to visit their website !!! 06/13/07 - UPDATE: Just a quick update to let everyone know that we are still on track for this season. Try-outs are expected to be scheduled for late August, we will have more definite dates as we get closer. As many of you may already know there has been some changes in the situation with Florida leagues. We are still determining what will work out best for our organization as a whole. Once final decisions have been made we will update again. Practices are expected to begin in October and will run Tuesday and Thursday nights. Our request has been approved, Central High School in Brooksville is now our Home stadium!
